The Persuaders present: Contemporary Art – Buy or Sell?

Has the contemporary art market recently become dangerously volatile?

We are delighted to welcome art dealer René Gimpel to facilitate what promises to be a fascinating discussion, during which he will discuss whether there is a right time for investing in art. Although many websites give timely advice on such investments, there are so many secret caveats to this trade that it is hard to pin down a right time for buying or selling.

About the speaker:

René Gimpel is a fourth generation art dealer. With galleries in London and Paris, Gimpel Fils has contributed to the careers of artists such as Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore.  He is a specialist in modern British and continental art, including video art; and occasional lecturer on the cultural politics and  economics of the art market.

About The Persuaders:

Founded by Radiah Ford (née Binns), and Alban James, The Persuaders is the Home House Debating Society (or discussion salon).  It offers members and their guests the opportunity to informally and directly engage with thought leaders from the worlds of activism, politics and the arts.

Discussions held under the Chatham House Rule.

Cost: £5 members, £10 guests (all monies to our charity TACT, The Adolescent and Children’s Trust)

Time/Location: 7.30pm, Etruscan Room

Due to the popularity of our events, we are unable to offer refunds.
