EVENT INFORMATION

In a collection of over 2000 paintings, why are there only 21 by female artists and how can we talk about female artists when we can’t see them?

On International Women’s Day 2023, join the fascinating tour of the National Gallery London led by an ArtscapesUK art historian as you weave your way through the gallery’s permanent collection telling the story of female representation as well as that of female artists such as Rachel Ruysch, Berthe Morisot and Elisabeth Vigee le Brun.

These women, magnificent and talented artists, often had to fight harder than their male counterparts for recognition and have finally been re-written back into art history. Perhaps we should re-brand these Old Masters as Old Mistresses!

Tickets: £25 for members and £30 for guests*

Date: Wednesday 8 March, at 4pm

Location: Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 5DN (Meet up at The Espresso Bar)
