Love, Sex and Marriage in the Italian Renaissance
Start the Valentine’s weekend with a suitably romantic tour at the National Gallery courtesy of Art History UK. collection we will consider the role of wives and courtesans, wedding and childbirth ceremonies, the institute of marriage and whether love played a part. Mysterious portraits, saucy mythological scenes, wedding chests and birth trays will all feature in works by Botticelli, Van Eyck, Leonardo and more. This is the perfect pre-Valentine day tour!
