EVENT INFORMATION

“Reflections on Restitutions” with Richard Aronowitz

We are delighted to welcome Richard Aronowitz, Global Head of Restitution at Christie’s and advisor to the UK Government on spoliation matters, to discuss this month’s topic. In this session, he will introduce us to the Washington principles which over the past 25 years, have guided the restitution of art spoliated during the Nazi era, to victims and their heirs. The exchange between our guest speaker and Home House members is likely to touch on the legal and ethical dilemmas coming with this process, as well as whether the same principles can be applied in the wider context of conflicts or on the restitutions of art works between nations post colonization.
